A pattern is a saved combination of blocks that serves a given purpose inside a WordPress Website. Normally, these combinations serve as ways of making dynamic and creative layouts, and by saving them, the developers can use them on more than one page with ease, keeping consistency and giving an identity to a WordPress Website.
These patterns can given by a theme, or they can be created by a user on a specific WordPress Website.
How to make a pattern #
- Make your block combination.
- Select all blocks on the list view.
- Right-click and click on create pattern.
- Name your pattern depending on the use case and create or give it a category if needed.
- Disable sync.
- Your pattern is saved.
How to insert a pattern #
To insert a pattern, it is relatively simple. Follow the next steps:
- Click on the location where the pattern should be inserted.
- Open the document overview and enter the list view.
- Press on the Toggle Block Inserter (Plus button).
- Change from Blocks to Patterns.
- Select the category of the pattern.
- Click on the pattern and it should appear in your layout.
