Super Admin The highest level role with complete control over the entire network. Can create, modify, and delete sites; install and activate themes and plugins network-wide; manage all users across the network; configure network settings; and perform any action on any site within the network.
Administrator Has full control over their individual site but cannot affect other sites in the network. Can manage users on their site, create and edit content, modify site settings, and manage certain plugins.
Editor Can publish and manage posts and pages including those created by other users. Cannot access administrative settings, themes, plugins, or user management. Focused on content oversight and publication across the site.
Author Can write, edit, and publish their own posts. Can upload media files. Cannot edit others’ posts or manage pages, and has no access to site settings or administrative functions.
Contributor Can write and edit their own posts but cannot publish them – submissions require approval from an Editor or Administrator. Cannot upload media files or access any administrative functions.
Subscriber The most limited role, only able to manage their own profile and read content. Typically used for membership sites or comment systems requiring registration.
